A Little History

Warning: my blog serves little worldly purpose other than a selfish one! It allows me two things: to vent and to write!

I have been a wife for nearly 44 years ... and wouldn't change a thing (most likely this is not a totally true statement, but you know what I mean. I love the Hubs!)

I'm mom to two very special (of course), grown-up kiddos. My son is a career EMT Fireman with a city fire department. He and his wife, the director of the city hospital's CC units, have two great kids, a son and a daughter. They bring us much joy! My daughter is an adjunct professor at her Alma Mater and a published author of YA books. So blessed to walk a tiny bit of that journey with her! And oh, yes, we love St. Louis Cardinal baseball!

I have one sister, a brother-in-law, two nephews and their wives, a teen nephew, two great-nephews and two great-nieces. I also have a beautiful mother who is 94 years young and not just a mother, but along with my husband, is one of my best friends! And I have a sweet mother-in-law. As well as cousins and aunts and uncles. I have a loving family. I count myself VERY blessed!

Before retiring, my husband and I spent nearly thirty years in the classroom. He was an administrator, and other than one year in junior high art, I taught kindergartners and first graders in three elementary schools for the majority of the time. Teaching five and six-year-olds to read and write was my particular love.

Drawing, painting, reading and writing have always been a part of my life. Books, scrap-booking, walking, worshiping with believers, visiting family and friends, and taking trips to the beach are all things that I love. In 2007, my daughter began writing fiction and asked me to help proof and edit her rough drafts. Ahh, it has been a thrill, a joy and the beginning of an amazing adventure!

The Lord's presence in my life is a great source of strength, comfort and a guiding light.

I'm very thankful.
